Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants should be able to:
- Know when to make an application to the Court of Protection;
- Understand the different types of evidence;
- Know how to prepare good written evidence;
- Know what to expect from the court experience and how to manage anxiety;
- Know how to give good oral evidence;
- Know what to expect after the hearing.
At the end of the session there will also be a case law update to explore some of the latest judgements made by the court and what the implications for practice may be.
Description
The aim of this one-day course is to equip qualified social workers and their managers with the knowledge and skills they need to apply and provide evidence to the Court of Protection.
When delivering this course face to face the first part of the day participants will use a case study to complete a court application form and prepare a COP24 evidence statement and in the second half of the day the trainer will use a mock courtroom roleplay to allow participants to test their learning about giving oral evidence in a safe but realistic environment.
When delivering this course online via zoom the course focuses on case studies and completing a COP24 form.
