Learning outcomes

 

  • Have explored the importance of contact in promoting children’s emotional wellbeing and identity, balancing possible contra-indications for contact
  • Have considered the factors which can discourage parents’ visits or make things difficult for children
  • Understand the foster carer’s role preparing children for contact and working with them after contact sessions
  • Know how to observe and report back the effects on children to contribute to planning future contact
  • Looking at language that cares approach when recording

Description

Contact can be very important in helping children develop their sense of identity and understand their lives. Foster Carers have a crucial role in supporting children’s relationships with their family.

This course aims to give participants an opportunity to look at the language that cares approach regards to recording and will give them tools to support and prepare the children and young people for contact. The course covers trauma informed practice and aces, along with childhood experiences.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.
