This VR-Enabled course supports participants in developing a better understanding of working with Adults who may present elements of difficult, dangerous or evasive behaviour.

Learning outcomes

  • To explore our understanding of working with service users who can be ambivalent, avoidant, confrontational, aggressive, hostile or use disguised compliance.
  • To provide an opportunity for participants to develop effective tools and techniques for working with service users in challenging situations.
  • To provide an opportunity for participants to be able to use our Virtual Reality immersive storytelling films to see through the eyes of a child.
  • Consider learning from safeguarding practice reviews relating to families reluctant to work with services.
  • Explore reasons for uncooperativeness and how uncooperativeness impacts on assessments.
  • How we can respond to behaviors.
  • Consider effective communication strategies to diffuse challenging situations.
  • Managing resistance and improving relationships.
  • Consider self-care and support to reduce and alleviate practice burnout.

Description

Formally named ‘Working with Difficult, Dangerous and Evasive Behaviours (DDE)’, this training demonstrates issues and behaviours presented by adults who can be ambivalent, avoidant, confrontational, aggressive, hostile or use disguised compliance. The issues and behaviours of these service users will be integrated throughout the training.

This course is aimed at practitioners working in a multi-agency setting in children’s and/or adult services. Working with Families, Improving Relationships will provide delegates and their team with the skills, tools and resources to prepare for any situation.

This course is delivered by our expert facilitators who will bring their first hand experience and tailor the course to suit your learning needs.

  • Child Safegyarding Practice Review
  • Respectful uncertainty.
  • Exploring Uncooperative behaviours and reasons behind these behaviours.
  • The voice of the child, from pre-birth to adolescence
  • Challenges and ways to overcome.
  • How to recognise and respond to parents and carers who resist professional interventions.
  • Managing resistance and improving relationships.
  • Compassion fatigue and secondary trauma.
